The Big Chill
With an affinity for comfort, waxed wool and thick yarns, and signature non-brushed ‘beachy’ hair (‘I don’t like to spend too much time getting dressed, it really frustrates me’), I wanted to share my effortlessly easy ways to approach to packing for a weekend break in Cornwall. Influenced by a laid-back Cornish lifestyle, I maintain that flats are your essential item for a country jaunt and layers of bespoke pieces make your look that extra bit more personal.
1. Invest in a cashmere wool hat
My wardrobe staples are high-waisted skinny black jeans, a flecked grey wool sweatshirt, a really warm hat. The wind picks up around the coast of Cornwall so to keep your hair under control, keep it under wraps in a Boathouse beanie.
2. Choose everyday essentials
I don’t really follow any rules in particular. I like to keep things simple with nice, easy separates which can be mismatched and built up for the colder months. Cabbage Blue has a selection of inky blue pieces which work great as an everyday essential.
3. Practical Flats
Comfort is key for me so I like trainers or a Chelsea boot. You’ll usually find me in flats or brogues when I’m not walking through fields and venture back into the city. I can’t stand wearing heels.’
4. Add a handmade touch
Accessories are a really easy way to turn up an outfit and add a personal touch. I love Dsalunke’s bags which are handmade in her home studio from expertly treated leathers.
